We are pleased to release the BASS v1.0 to the general public. The BASS framework is a collection of vulnerable programs and scripts for automatically generating exploits across different machines and multiple architectures. BASS has been designed to simplify the security evaluation of proposed architectural security solutions while increasing the thoroughness of evaluation.

IDEAL Ph.D. student received prestigious, nationally competitive fellowship award! James Poe has been selected to receive a 2006 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Award. This award is made to outstanding graduate students who demonstrate the potential to become knowledge experts and who can contribute significantly to research, teaching, and innovations in science and engineering. Only 4 students were awarded in the field of Computer Engineering nationally.

The members of IDEAL are proud to announce that Dr. Li has received the Microsoft Research Trustworthy Computing Curriculum 2006 Award. Fifteen proposals were selected from 114 global submissions through a rigorous peer review process by Microsoft security experts. The members of IDEAL are proud to announce the immediate availability of our BioInfoMark bioinformatics benchmarking suite and BioMetricWorkload (BMW) biometrics benchmarking suite. Both of these tools are freely available via the tools link of our website. BioInfoMark will be presented this month at the IEEE International Symposium on Modeling, Analysis, and Simulation of Computer and Telecommunication Systems and BioMetricWorkload will be presented at the IEEE International Symposium on Workload Characterization.

The website has grown and matured in many ways since its original conception, and we hope that our website will serve as a valuable addition, not just to the members of IDEAL, but to the entire computer architecture community.

The first draft of what will be our new website is now online for internal testing. When completed, the website will offer guests access to IDEAL publications, software tools, and member information.
